I have recently become enamored with Chia seeds which go well with my Vitamix smoothies. Do you remember the Chia Pets? Turns out those seeds are good for so much more! Stay tuned for an Ask Aunt Wendy column about why Chia seeds are so good for you!
Even if you don't have a Vitamix, you can still make delicious smoothies, it is just not quite as much fun!
Here is my basic go to recipe -- mix and match, be creative.
• 1/4 - 1/2 cup of almond milk
• Two handfuls of spinach or kale
• 4-6 pieces of frozen mango
• 2-4 ice cubes
• 1 banana or 1/2 an avocado
• 1-2 Tablespoons Chia Seeds
If you are using a Vitamix, follow the order above. Set it to low Variable and 1. Turn it on and quickly turn the power up to 10. It's ready in a couple of seconds!
It should work just as well in a blender, it just takes a little bit longer.
